Death by [Poor] Diet

A new study in The Lancet has found that a poor diet is more deadly than tobacco. Unhealthy eating now accounts for 11 million deaths worldwide, (compared with 8 million tobacco deaths) mostly as a result of heart disease, followed by cancers and Type 2 diabetes.

The study found that these deaths were associated with diets low in whole grains, fruits, nuts, seeds and omega-3 fatty acids

Project Spotlight: Sainsbury’s Waste Less, Save More Recipe Book

I have developed a recipe book promoting affordable healthy eating and food waste reduction messages for the Sainsbury’s £10 million Waste Less, Save More campaign.

Working in partnership with the Hubbub Foundation, Sainsbury’s and Southwark Council, I developed, researched, wrote and curated recipes and created an accompanying meal plan based on these recipes. The book also features food waste reduction and food safety advice.

My Sainsbury’s Recipe Book Featured During #DietitiansWeek 2018, 4-8th June

The Sainsbury’s ‘Waste Less, Save More, Eat Well’ recipe book which I wrote was featured as  a case study on the British Dietetic Association’s website during this year’s Dietitians Week highlighting how dietitians ‘Do Prevention’.

Day 3 of the campaign focused on Public Health and Primary Prevention, looking at how registered dietitians work with populations and prevent conditions such as malnutrition, obesity and Type 2 Diabetes developing in the first place.
